    BRIEFCASE OF LEARNING (BOL): PYTHON
KVS: Innovation & Experimentation in Education

“Briefcase of Learning (BOL): Python” presents concepts of Python programming language in the form of the Digital Learning Cards. These Digital Learning Cards (DLCs) consists of short and precise notes of Python Programming in the form of memory trees (Mind Maps) that helps students learn and memorize the programming concepts for long. These cards also enable the students to learn by using mobile (smart phone) especially for those students who do not have personal computer at their home. These Digital Learning Cards also having few QR Codes which links these Digital Learning Cards to the webpages developed by the author for amazing learning activities like detailed study notes, practical programming codes (scripts) and online assessments on the topics learnt by students.
This project was implemented by undertaking the following activities in different phases:-
For the sake of convenience to the students, multiple copies of each card was made and distributed to each pair of students (2 students in each pair of total 18 students in present scenario of the current batch)

Phase-1 (Explanation of concepts and use of memory tree):
First the project was introduced to the class and showed them how programming concept could be done with the help of Digital Learning Cards. Students were instructed how to use Digital Learning Cards. In the classroom, students were instructed how to use the mind map technique to memorize the concepts in easy way and for a longer time.
Interactive session was based on explanation of a particular topic/concept of that particular topic by the teacher followed by students. First time learner may speak by viewing learning cards and after 2-3 repetitions of a memory tree the concepts could be well memorized by the students.

    Phase-2 (Detailed Notes/ Study Material):
Detailed notes and study material were also provided in the form of link via QR Code linked on Digital Learning Cards. (Various other useful web links for learning python are also available on the blog). A list of QR codes printed on A4 size sheet was distributed to each student for personnel use. It is a list consisting of all the QR codes that are printed on each card. In the classroom students were shown how to use the QR code using the cards as well as lists.

    Phase-3 (Application of Learning):
Next the Students were asked to perform practical based on the programming concepts they had learned to apply the concepts in development of programs. These practical were conducted in computer lab however, there are QR code links for doing practical directly on mobile in case the computer is not available at home. Python scripts for doing practical is also available on blog: – www.bolpython.blogspot.com
Students were given assignment as well to get the feel of the new technique.’

    Phase-4 (Leaner Achievement Test [LAT]):
Students were instructed to take online assessment test. On the basis of performance of online test, teacher could assess the learning level of the learners. Low achievers were asked to revise the concepts through Digital Learning Cards and revisit the online assessment. QR code for online assessment is also available on Digital Learning Cards.

After execution of project “Briefcase of Learning (BOL): Python”, result of class XI become 100% pass with much better quality than previous years. This project made learning much interesting and effective.
